Valley Action operates several 24-hour group homes for adults experiencing intellectual disabilities. The residents in these homes can access any part of our community with ease and fully participate in the vibrant life of our small town.
Where the heart is
Our homes are welcoming, safe and comfortable for people of all abilities. We aim to create spaces where residents can share and work together, and every person is accepted for who they are. We strive to create significant communities where all of our residents experience a sense of belonging and develop meaningful relationships with others.
It’s the little things that matter
By paying attention to the details, such as the ones listed below, we work to foster a sense of home for all of our residents.
Each resident has their own room and is encouraged to make the space their own.
Residents have the opportunity to participate in weekly community activities including potluck suppers, shared outings, movie nights, seasonal celebrations, crafts and other activities identified by them.
Daily walks, coffee outings, local hockey games and other activities in the community are an important part of the life of our residents.
Residents are encouraged to get involved in weekly grocery shopping, menu planning, laundry, food preparation, yard work and other tasks to help to maintain the homes.
